Dr. Ronecia Lark, PsyD aka “Dr. Necia”
Hi! I was born in Arizona, but my roots are in Southern California. My free time is about family, faith, traveling, and close friends.
I have been in the mental health field for over twenty years. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Management from the University of Redlands. I continued my studies at California State Dominguez Hills to earn a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Some years later, I completed another Master's degree and earned my Doctorate at the California School of Psychology, Alliant International University, in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Marriage and Family Therapist in California. Through this experience, my passion for people has been fortified and allowed me to work in various clinical settings, including schools, community mental health, and children and family services.
Before becoming a clinician, I enjoyed a career in law enforcement and retired after 25 years as a sergeant. The career granted me an extensive background in diverse communities dealing with various life issues, crises, trauma, domestic violence, victimology, and inclusion. These experiences reinforced my motto that “everyone has a story” and it has become my mission to make space for and help others unpack their story.
I have a passion for training and developing professionals. This interest began during my years in law enforcement, training new officers and recruits. My enjoyment and skill as a trainer expanded when I transitioned into the mental health field. I have over 15 years of experience in teaching and training in academia as an Adjunct Professor in Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Criminal Justice. My role as a trainer includes clinical supervision of Masters and Doctoral students. My deepest desire and belief are to provide a safe, appropriate atmosphere conducive to learning, exploring, developing, and creating a well-rounded, solid therapist.
My clinical work focuses on helping couples and families build and navigate healthy, fulfilling relationships. This includes the incorporation of faith as desired by clients. I am committed to decreasing the stigma, increasing awareness, and promoting mental wellness while being a resource for African American communities.
